Wahoo Trip 11/21/15

Did another impromptu wahoo trip on Saturday, Nov. 21st. My wife’s childhood friend’s husband was in town and wanted to do some fishing so we headed out early. The forecast 5-10 turned out to be 15-20, so conditions were very sporty. We began high-speed trolling off Pacific Light but didn’t find clean, blue water with strong current until getting close the The Elbow. As soon as we hit this clean water, we got a 23 lb wahoo in 225′ of water. We continued past the Elbow but had to turn back to make it back to the dock by 1:00, but not before getting a 25 lb kingfish under a flock of Common Terns. During the fight a shark took the tail of the king. I really wasn’t paying much attention to the birds, but did see at least 2 Pomarine Jaegers, several Northern Gannets, and group of Brown Booby, and the flock of Common Terns that also included a very interesting gull that I wasn’t able to get a better look at.
